Up and coming Russian welterweight Vladimir Zykov, 23, showed once again, that he is for real in 147 lbs, this Saturday in Sports Palace of Kazan, Russia. Young talent scored his third kayo victory in a row, when Mexican Juan Jose Bermejo remained on his stool following the end of round eleven during their clash for the minor IBA intercontinental title. Zykov, now 18-0 with 4 KOs, was much quicker than his opponent, showing enormous potential and fine technique. Bermejo moves down to 6-3-2 with 5 KOs. This bout was the headliner of the first stage of International Kostya Tszyu Cup of season 2006/07. Zykov was coming off the two strong performances in United States against Jesus Rodriguez and James Wayka.

Alexey Solovyev, 33, of Cheboksary, Russia continued his rise in the heavyweight division with a spectacular TKO 2 demolition of seasoned Ukrainian veteran Konstantin Ochrej, 39, last Friday in KRK Pyramide, Kazan’, Russia. Solovyev, too much for his foe, is now 10-0 with 6 KOs, while Ochrej drops to 18-28-3, 8 KOs. Also Akhmed Oligov (20-5, 4 KOs) easily outpointed journeyman Roman Seliverstov (5-4, 1 KO) over eight rounds. The show was promoted by Rinat Yusupov.
