Alexey Solovyev, 33, of Cheboksary, Russia continued his rise in the heavyweight division with a spectacular TKO 2 demolition of seasoned Ukrainian veteran Konstantin Ochrej, 39, last Friday in KRK Pyramide, Kazan’, Russia. Solovyev, too much for his foe, is now 10-0 with 6 KOs, while Ochrej drops to 18-28-3, 8 KOs. Also Akhmed Oligov (20-5, 4 KOs) easily outpointed journeyman Roman Seliverstov (5-4, 1 KO) over eight rounds. The show was promoted by Rinat Yusupov.
A huge boxing card, featuring several best Uzbekistani fighters, was arranged last Saturday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Headlining the show was WBA #9 in welterweight Farkhad ‘Masa’ Bakirov (24-0-2, 14 KOs), 34, who scored another victory, topping rugged spoiler Sergey Starkov (15-38-2, 2 KOs) in eight rounds. Featherweight Alisher Rakhimov (12-0, 6 KOs), 28, made another step towards the title bout, edging previously unbeaten Ukrainian KO artist Oleg Yefimovich (4-1, 4 KOs) by UD 8. Kuvanych Toygonbayev (25-4, 16 KOs), 30, came back strong after the devastating loss to now-contender Alisultan Nadirbegov this May with a PTS 8 over Belarussian Aliaxander Vayavoda (3-5-1, 2 KOs).
Extremely talented Kazakhstani welterweight Vitaly Demyanenko (9-0, 7 KOs), 23, who is ranked #15 by WBO, showed once again, he is a force to be reckon with in 147 lbs. Demyanenko easily stopped unheralded Ilhom Kurbonov (0-3) by KO 3 last Sunday in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. He is scheduled to fight for the vacant PABA welterweight title in a month. Junior bantamweight Yersin Jailauov (19-4, 7 KOs) wasn’t at his best but suffered no problems in his UD 6 over debutant Samat Kulbaev.
