Gomez wins, Solis, Hide demolish foes

WBC #12/WBA #8 heavyweight Juan Carlos Gomez scored a near shutout twelve round unanimous decision over WBO #15 rated Dennis Bakhtov. Scores were 120-108, 120-109, 120-108. Olympic Gold Medalist Odlanier Solis (2-0, 2 KOs) continued to mix up the heavyweight scene in a most impressive way. In his second pro fight, the Cuban demolished strong Russian Alex Mazikin (10-2) in only 43 seconds. Also former WBO heavyweight champion Herbie Hide scored a 83 second annihilation over Aleh Dubiaha in a cruiserweight clash. In another heavyweight clash, young German Konstantin Airich knocked out local hero Adnan Serin after 1:57 in round five. Earlier "Germany's Big Hope" Steffen Kretschmann impressed the Turkish crowd with a 1st round KO victory over Edgar Kalnars and Olympian gold medalists Yan Barthelemy and Yuriorkis Gamboa were both victorious.

A huge show, featuring several world-rated boxers, was staged by Russian promoter German Titov in Almaty, Kazakhstan, this Saturday. In the main event of the show local favorite Marat Mazimbaev (19-4-1, 14 KOs) scored the ninth-round KO over Tanzanian Anthony Mathias (15-7-1, 6 KOs) to capture the interim version of PABA super flyweight title and the vacant GBU belt as well. Former WBC international titlist Dennis Bakhtov (24-4, 15 KOs) stopped previously unbeaten Awadh Tamimu (9-1, 4 KOs) of Tanzania by TKO 3 in order to earn the interim version of the PABA heavyweight title and the vacant WBO Asian Pacific belt as well.

6 titles at stake in Ekaterinburg tomorrow!

In the very heart of old Ural Mountains, Ekaterinburg will host tomorrow one of the biggest tournaments in the short history of Russian professional boxing. Promoted by German Titov this card seems to be clearly the most entitled with six regional titles at stake and six twelve-rounders as well for the first time in Russia. Several best post-Soviet fighters will take part in the evening, showing their best to local fans.
