World-class boxing hit the Russian capital for the second time in eight months with the “Boxing Show #2”, promoted by Yuri Fedorov Sports Lab in association with the Sauerland Event and the Seminole Warriors Boxing and with the help of Putinka Boxing Stars. However, the breath-taking thriller on paper turned out to be a less-than-stellar performance after a bunch of sudden failures and withdraws, though remaining the most significant boxing event in Eastern Europe this year.

What had once seemed to be just another presser, covering the ‘Boxing Show #2’, turned out to be an intriguing performance with the promoters playing their roles brilliantly and with a thrilling change in the mid of the story.

The press-conference, held at ITAR-TASS building on Tverskoy Boulevard in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday, was first dedicated to the Kirillov-Vargas super flyweight showdown. The situation, however, changed a lot during the process as it was announced that the IBF title fight against Vargas would be no go. Alexander Povetkin’s co-manager Vladimir Hrunov, who attended the presser, took control of the scene by announcing the arrival of Carl King and Henry Akinwande and by getting the tribune in order to continue the pre-match show in the most exciting way.

The lengthy and successful mutual partnership between the Russian professional boxing Federation (RPBF) and the Sauerland Event was marked symbolically in an impressive way yesterday, in Moscow. Crystal Glove, the huge and shiny award, specifically designed by the RPBF for those persons, who are making an enormous impact to the Sweet Science in this country, was presented to Kalle Sauerland, the co-owner of the German promotional company and well-known boxing manager as well.

This Thursday famed Russian boxing mistress Natalia Ragozina celebrated her birthday in Moscow. The princess of Russian boxing was greeted by Alexander and Vladimir Povetkin, and their manager Vladimir Hrunov.

Thanks to his extremely successful outing versus usually tough American David Bostice (TKO 2), Alexander Povetkin (11-0, 9 KOs), who is already ranked #16 by the WBC, will elevate his status from the featured figure of the evening to its main star. According to Povetkin’s manager Vladimir Hrunov, Russian Olympic super heavyweight gold medalist (Athens 2004) will now headline a huge show, promoted by Sauerland Event on May, 5, in Berlin, Germany.
