WBO #1 heavyweight contender Sultan Ibragimov (20-0-1, 17 KOs) needed just 46 seconds to vaporize Javier Mora (21-4-1, 17 KOs) Saturday night at the Madison Square Garden Theater. Ibragimov dropped Mora almost immediately with a left hook and after Mora beat the count (barely), Ibragimov smelled blood and battered him back to the canvas as the carnage was halted. Ibragimov was slated to face WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs, but Briggs caught pneumonia and that bout was delayed. "I trained hard," said Ibragimov afterward. "I trained for all ten rounds. I knew Mora was tough. I hope to see Shannon Briggs soon. He talks too much." There wasn't much Mora could say about the fight. "I came to fight but unfortunately I got caught early," Mora told Fightnews.com, "that dude can crack man."
Unbeaten heavyweight Roman Greenberg (25-0, 17 KOs) scored a workmanlike ten round unanimous decision over Michael Simms (19-7-1, 13 KOs). Scores were 99-91 across the board.
