Dmitry Pirog (6-0, 5 KOs), 26, of Krasnodar, Russia, added another blistering performance to his resume this Wednesday in Casino Crystal, Moscow, Russia. Pirog successfully defended his Russian middleweight title by stopping Georgian journeyman Zviadi Purtskhvanidze (13-6-2, 3 KOs), 25, in five rounds. The lengthy titlist shocked his opponent with the ultimate work-rate early in round one. The defending champion was at his best in rounds four and five, while Purtskhvanidze noticeably faded minute by minute. The bout was stopped by challenger’s camp after the fifth round. This victory was the second huge for Pirog following his April win over perennial contender Sergey Tatevosyan.

In the co-feature bout of the evening unbeaten cruiserweight Mikhail Nasyrov (16-0, 11 KOs) easily retained his WBC CISSB title via TKO 2 over Belorussian heavyweight Igor Shukalo (14-10, 7 KOs). Nasyrov, 24, from Chelyabinsk, Russia rocked his opponent several times in round one and finished the contest with a severe combo that sent Shukalo to the canvas. Belorussian was able to beat the count but he was waved off by the referee after failing to answer any questions.

IBA super flyweight champion and WBO intercontinental titleholder Kahramon Arzykulov (12-2-1, 7 KOs) of Uzbekistan, who is ranked #10 by WBO in 115 lbs, scored an impressive KO 2 in a non-title bout with Russian journeyman Ravil Mukhamadiarov (6-17, 5 KOs) this Wednesday in Casino Vodoley, Ekaterinburg, Russia.

The first stage of the International Kostya Tszyu Cup of the season 2006/07 will be arranged on the 25th of November in Basket Hall, Kazan, Russia. Headlining the show will be undefeated Russian welterweight Vladimir Zykov (17-0, 3 KOs) who is scheduled to face American Jose Juan Bermejo (6-2-2, 5 KOs) in twelve-rounder. Also former amateur star Anton Solopov (13-1, 9 KOs) will take on Akhmed Oligov (20-5, 4 KOs) in ten-rounder which will be defining for their careers.

The current EBU 168 lbs titleholder David Gogiya (16-1, 4 KOs) of Georgia, who is currently fighting of Togliatty, Russia, will probably defend his title versus Frenchman Jackson Chanet (28-1, 15 KOs) on the 2nd of December in France. Gogiya has captured his belt via SD 12 over Mger Mkrtchian on the 12th of October. Mkrtchian had knocked Chanet out earlier this year.
