Hot middleweight prospect Dmitry Pirog was fighting in Krasnodar for the first time as a pro last Saturday. Back to his hometown, Pirog was hugely supported by the fans and greeted them in return with the late stoppage of Belarussian journeyman Alexander Vayavoda. The fight, scheduled for ten, was fast-paced and thrilling down the stretch, however Pirog took better of almost all of the exchanges. In round nine, Dmitry finally caught his opponent with the crushing left hook and down went Vayavoda. He barely beat the count but was too wobbly forcing referee Nikolay Putchkov to stop the fight. With the win Pirog is now CIS and Slavic countries middleweight champion with a perfect record of 9-0, 8 KOs. Vayavoda fell back to 4-7-1 with 2 KOs.
On the same card unbeaten cruiserweight Mikhail Nasyrov (17-0, 11 KOs) made easy work of Sultanbek Kerefov (1-0, 1 KO) in a mismatch. Kerefov was fighting for only the second time, did his best but was pounded mercilessly. The bout was stopped in round three on the advice of Kerefov’s corner. Also light heavyweight Seyfouddin Barakhoev (5-1, 4 KOs) decisioned herd-chinned Vasily Andriyanov (7-13, 1 KO) over eight. The event was promoted by PUSHKA promotional company.
