WBA #3 welterweight Yuri Nuzhnenko will be back inside the ring on June, 9, in Kiev, Ukraine. Nuzhnenko, 30, who recently defeated then-unbeaten Uzbek Farkhad Bakirov in a hard win-or-lose cross-roader, is going to defend his WBA intercontinental title for the third time against an opponent to be named soon. Yuri, whose record is a perfect one with 25-0 and 13 kayos, aims a shot at veteran French master Frederic Klose, ranked #2 by the WBC and the WBA, for both European crown and the ‘mandatory challenger’ position as well. Nuzhnenko is possibly the best of Ukrainian undefeated 147 lbs trio, as Victor Plotnikov and Vyacheslav Senchenko are also going to shock the world in the nearest future.
In co-main event of the evening rising Ukrainian heavyweight Alexey Mazikin (10-1, 2 KOs), 32, will try his skills versus tough Italian journeyman Paolo Ferrara (23-11-1, 7 KOs), 36, over eight rounds scheduled. Mazikin is coming off the best career win so far – an eight-round loopsided decision over American Sedreck Fields last February.
The show is promoted by National Box Promotion (Ukraine).
