In the walk-out bout of Saturday's big show in Moscow, former WBO heavyweight champion Henry Akinwande (50-3-1, 30 KOs) of Nigeria outpointed Ukrainian late-sub Andriy Oleynik (12-8, 10 KOs) over ten rounds. The should-be thrilling fight on paper turned out to be an ugly clowning affair thanks to Oleynik who did less in the ring than outside it during the fight. Akinwande was originally slated to face Oleg Platov in a rematch.
Super flyweight contender Dimitri Kirillov, who saw a world title bout fall apart when no late sub could be found for injured Chapo Vargas, will be granted an immediate title bout with Vargas or the highest available contender in the next 90 days and is still the mandatory IBF challenger according to IBF supervisor Benedetto Montella.
