According to well-known Russian manager Vladimir Hrunov, Vladimir Povetkin, the younger brother of 2004 Athens super heavyweight gold medalist Alexander Povetkin, will make his debut as a pro on March, 3, in Rostock, Germany. 26-year old Russian middleweight is yet another strong piece of the new wave of boxing talents from the vast lands of former Soviet Union to establish his career in Germany, along with the likes of Denis Boytsov, Gennady Golovkin, Alexander Alexeev and some others.
Hrunov says, “We now have two fighters with the same second name to dominate the world scene of boxing in coming years. Vladimir is as much as talented as his older brother. He was a unique amateur, but, unfortunately, for some reasons he hasn’t found there any success. I’m sure that his pro career will be quite different”.
The opponent for Vladimir Povetkin is still unknown to date. His famed brother (10-0, 8 KOs) will collide with experienced American journeyman David Bostice (37-11, 15 KOs) in featured ten-rounder on the same card. Both boxers are managed by Vladimir Hrunov in association with Sauerland Event.
