It seems that Ross Puritty (30-19-3, 27 KOs) will be the next in line to face hot Russian prospect Alexander Povetkin (9-0, 7 KOs) on the undercard of the Maskaev – Okhello WBC heavyweight title clash, which is scheduled to take place on the 10th of December in Olympiysky Sports Arena, Moscow, Russia.
Though the negotiations are under way, the bout is likely to be officially announced on the 30th of October during the special presser in ITAR-TASS Press Centre. Attending the presser will be: Alexander Povetkin, WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev, his manager Boris Dimitrov, promoter Wilfried Sauerland, promoter of the show Vladimir Hrunov, organizer of the show Yuri Fedorov and former amateur legend Victor Petrovich Ageev (the president of RPBF).
Alexander Povetkin is coming off the huge TKO 5 win over former WBO title challenger Ed Mahone this September. Povetkin is the 2004 Olympics super heavyweight gold medalist and one of the most talented heavyweights nowadays. Ross Puritty, nicknamed The Boss, is known to be the toughest test for everyone. He had several upsets on his resume including TKO 11 victory over the current IBF heavyweight world champion Wladimir Klitschko. Puritty is scheduled to take on David Tua on the 3rd of November.
