A few changes have been made to the undercard of the huge upcoming (Dec. 10) show with the WBC heavyweight title clash between Russian Oleg Maskaev and Ugandan Peter Okhello as a headliner. Talented Dzhimi Kapanov is off the show due to the undisclosed injury, suffered during the preparation. Replacing him will be Russian cruiser Pavel Melkomian (20-2, 8 KOs), whose opponent is still to be named. Melkomian, once an undefeated contender, is coming off the most horrible year in a career with the recent kayo losses to Grigory Drozd and Rudolf Kraj.
Russian middleweight champion Dmitry Pirog (6-0, 5 KOs) will face American journeyman Rodrigues Moungo (12-12, 9 KOs), who has lost his last seven bouts. Unbeaten cruiser Mikhail Nasyrov (16-0, 11 KOs) is scheduled to take on Canadian David Whittom (7-2-1, 4 KOs). Two more slots are empty yet for the most important event in Russian boxing history. Local boxing fans still have a hope to see legendary Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight; however, the negotiations are under way at the present time.
