On Tuesday, Spotlight Boxing staged another event featuring young prospects at the Kugelbake-Halle in Cuxhaven, Germany. The main event saw a ten round super middleweight clash between contender Denis Inkin and Emmanuel Duma. In the co-feature, WBO #1 middleweight Khoren Gevor battled Edison Frandisco Guedes. The card also featured cruiserweight hope Aleksander Alekseev, talented middleweight Gennady Golovkin and super middleweight Lukas Wilaschek.

In the main event, super middleweight contender Denis Inkin scored a knockout in round seven over Emmanuel Duma. The southpaw Duma, however, gave Inkin, who sensationally knocked out his stablemate Mario Veit last year, problems in the first few rounds as he moved a lot and showed good reflexes. Inkin wasn’t able to catch his opponent clearly until the third when he landed a crisp right hand. In the fifth, Inkin finally had some success as he landed a few good shots on Duma, who seemed to tire a bit and now focused more on running than on fighting. In round seven, a bad cut opened up over the left eye of Inkin. Seconds later, however, he landed a huge right hand that dropped Duma for the ten-count. The official time was 1:48. The fight was scheduled for ten rounds. Inkin moves to 30-0 with 3 KOs and could get a world title challenge during 2007. Duma falls to 11-9-2.

Current WBO middleweight mandatory challenger Khoren Gevor defeated Edison Frandisco Guedes in the co-feature. The 27-year-old Gevor dominated his foe. Guedes was down in the second, received a standing-eight in the fifth, injuring his leg in the same round. In the sixth, Gevor landed a low blow and as a result, the referee first issued another standing-eight count to Guedes but after this took a point away from Gevor. Finally, seconds later, the referee stopped the one-sided affair at 2:28 minutes of the sixth round.

Gevor (26-2, 15 KOs) is now targeting a bout against middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, who currently holds the WBO and WBC straps. If a bout against Taylor can’t be made, Gevor will most likely fight for the vacant WBO title against an opponent to be determined. Gevor currently holds the Intercontinental titles of both the WBO and the IBF and is undefeated since back-to-back losses against Lukas Konecny in 2002. It was a very good performance by Gevor, a spirited effort by Guedes and a bad one by the referee, who twice issued a standing-eight counts to Guedes after he got hit low and strangely took a point from Gevor the second time after he gave a count to the Brazilian. Guedes’ record falls to 11-6.

Another super middleweight hope, Lukas Wilaschek, defeated Andile Tshongolo by unanimous decision after eight rounds. Tshongolo was down at the end of the very first round but was able to close the stanza. Afterwards, he was outboxed for the remaining seven rounds. The judges scored it unanimous for the German, 80-71 twice and 78-73. Wilaschek, who represented Germany at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, has able to built a perfect 16-0 record since turning professional in September of 2004. He is now looking forward to his first fight for a regional title. Tshongolo, who lost a third round technical knockout against Khoren Gevor in his last bout at the same arena, falls to 16-12.

Cruiserweight prospect Aleksander Alekseev mastered the toughest test of his short professional career as he spectacularly defeated Nicaraguan Henry Saenz by TKO in the very first round. Alekseev dropped Saenz tree-times in the opening stanza, all knockdowns coming by hard left body blows. After the third, the referee waved the fight off at 2:58 minutes. It was a dominating performance by Alekssev, who, at 25, quickly becomes someone to look out in the Cruiserweight division. Alekseev kept his perfect record intact and stands now at 9-0 with 8 KO's. Saenz, who has previously been in with former world champion Fabric Tiozzo and European champion Thomas Ulrich, lost his fourth straight and is now 13-6-1.

Middleweight Gennady Golovkin beat tough journeyman Simon Mokoena by TKO at the beginning of the sixth round. Golovkin dominated the bout and hurt his foe but Mokoena showed heart and fought back. After six rounds, however, the corner of Mokoena stopped the bout because their fighter took to much punishment. With the win, Golovkin stays unbeaten and is now 7-0, all of them by way of knockout. The 36-years old Mokoena falls to 16-17-5.

Aleksy Kuziemski outboxed Karim Bennama en route to a 8 round unanimous decision in a light heavyweight affair. Scores were 80-72, 78-74 and 78-75 for Kuziemski, who kept his unbeaten record intact and now stands at 11-0 with one KO, while Bennama, who is in line for a EBU-EU title shot against Kai Kurzawa, falls to 16-8-2.

Highly regarded super middleweight Eduard Gutknecht (6-0, 5 KOs) TKO'd Gabor Zsalek (4-5-2) at 2:06 of round two.

Welterweight Maurice Weber (8-0-1, 3 KOs) defeated Gabriel Lecrosnier (6-4) over six by scores of 60:54, 59:55, 60:54

Flyweight Rebekka Herrmann (6-1) outpointed Nina Abrosova (0-1)over six by scores of 59:55, 58:56, 58:56
