Russian welterweight Marat Khuzeev (15-2-1, 6 KOs) successfully returned into the ring for the first time since his loss to Ukrainian Victor Plotnikov this February. On Thursday in a tune-up fight Khuzeev has scored an easy unanimous decision over trial-horse Andrey Tylilyuk (2-22-1, 1 KO) on all three scorecards: 80-72, 80-72, and 80-73. Also 19-year old Anton Novikov (5-0, 1 KO) stopped Abdumonon Kurbanov (0-1) in two. The fight was held in Vyborg, Russia, by promoter Igor Shafer.
A huge show, featuring one minor title fight and a group of talented fighters, will be arranged today in Cheboksary by RS Sport Promotion. The main event will see undefeated Russian heavyweight Alexey Solovyev (12-0, 7 KO) in a non-title twelve-rounder versus Kenyan Tom Okusi (5-8-1, 5 KOs). In the co-feature tough Belarussian featherweight Andrey Isaev (14-1, 4 KOs) will collide with Tanzanian Francis Miyeyusho (18-4-2, 7 KOs) for the vacant IBF intercontinental title. Last September Isaev gave undefeated British prospect Kevin Mitchell the toughest fight of his life but was stopped on cuts in the eleventh round. The show will also be filled with a huge undercard, featuring prospects Rauf Garaev (6-1, 3 KOs), Artur Marabyan (6-0, 2 KOs) and Shavkhat Madaminov (6-0, 2 KOs).
2004 Olympic light heavyweight silver medalist Mahamed Aripgadjiev (7-2, 6 KOs) of Belarus shut out local fighter Dmitry Ananyev (3-1, 1 KO) over six rounds yesterday in state capital Minsk. The scores were identical: 60-54 in favor of Aripgadjiev.
