Samuel Peter co-promoter Duva Boxing has won the right to stage the WBC mandatory title defense of Oleg Maskaev against Samuel Peter. Promoters Dino Duva, Don King and Dennis Rappaport were all on hand at noon Monday at WBC headquarters in Mexico City for the long anticipated WBC purse offer proceeding. The sealed bids were opened in random order. The first envelope to be opened was a bid of $2,250,000 from Russian promoter Yuri Federov's Sports Lab. Federov was not present at the proceeding. The second envelope contained a bid for $2,500,000 from Maskaev promoter Dennis Rappaport Productions. The third envelope contained a bid for $3,107,000 from Peter's other co-promoter Don King Productions. Last was Duva Boxing's winning bid of $3,201,000. Duva now has twenty days to lock down the fight venue. Signed contracts must be delivered to the WBC by May 28. Maskaev will get 55% ($1,708,850) to 45% for Peter ($1,398,150).
