A huge show, including some hot prospects, will be staged on the 23rd of September in Sports Palace, Kiev, Ukraine. Headlining the show will be extremely talented Russian middleweight Zaurbek Baysangurov (14-0, 12 KOs), who will face his toughest quest to date by meeting perennial Mexican contender Marco Antonio Rubio (34-3-1, 30 KOs) for a vacant WBC International 154 lbs title.
Baysangurov, 21, is the native of Achhoy-Martan, Chechnya, Russia, but now fighting in Ukraine, though still representing Russia. He is current IBF Youth light middleweight and middleweight beltholder and seemed to be one of the brightest stars, still performing in former SU. Rubio, 26, WBC #14, is widely known as a hard-hitter, knocking almost all his opposition out in early rounds. Among his victims are Jorge Vaca, Frankie Randall, Fitz Vanderpool, JC Candelo and Aslanbek Kodzoev. All his 3 losses were against world-rated opponents: Saul Roman, Kofi Jantuah and Kassim Ouma. In his last bout Rubio dropped SD 12 to Ouma, despite knocking Ugandan down in the beginning of the fight.
In co-feature bout of the evening undefeated Ukrainian prospect Yuri Nuzhnenko (23-0, 12 KOs), 30, WBA #12, will defend his WBA Intercontinental title against 14-years veteran Maxim Nesterenko (46-8-2, 28 KOs) in 12-round welterweight fight. Nuzhnenko started his career in 2000, fighting in Poland, but 3 years later returned home. His most known opponent was Ghanian Laatekwei Hammond, whom he has knocked out in 8 rounds this March. Nesterenko, 33, is former European champion, now showing the second wind over his boat with the recent back-to-back wins over Dane Christian Bladt (twice, both in Denmark) and controversial loss to WBA#1 Oktay Urkal last autumn.
